Another Day…Another Scandal At The Expense Of The Taxpayer

PROSPECTIVE Independent MP David Kirwan today (May 29) voiced his disgust at the shameless scramble by disgraced MPs to be given seats in the House of Lords.

More than 50 Labour MPs have lobbied for peerages amid fears that they will be swept out of their seats at the General Election in the wake of the Expenses Scandal.

One senior Labour MP is reported to have confided that “we are doomed” as MPs’ turn their attention to securing their futures after the election.

Meantime, MPs’ forced to quit over the Expenses Scandal are in line to pocket an extra £1.2million of taxpayers’ money by clinging on until the election rather than going now.

By staying on until the election, the MPs qualify for so called “parachute” payments of up to £129,532 depending on length of service.

David Kirwan said today: “How much lower can our MPs’ drag our Houses of Parliament, once so admired around the world?

“MPs’ clinging on to milk the system until the bitter end and other shameless MPs scrambling for peerages when they inevitably lose their seats at the election.

“Our MPs’ seem to think they can treat the voters like fools. The truth is we have all had enough and the day of the next General Election cannot come soon enough.

“Gordon Brown should put himself and the country out of their misery today.”
