Cameron “Dithers” Over Disgraced Tory MP

PROSPECTIVE Independent MP David Kirwan today (May 27) accused Tory leader David Cameron of “dithering” over shamed Tory MP Julie Kirkbride.

The candidate for Wirral West at the next General Election believes Mr Cameron should have ordered Ms Kirkbride to stand down at the same time as he showed the door to her husband and fellow MP Andrew MacKay.

Ms Kirkbride has been a constant feature in the media since the MPs’ Expenses Scandal broke over a fortnight ago with particular controversy surrounding the couple’s claiming of the Second Home Allowance on two homes.

Now Ms Kirkbride has hit the headlines again after it emerged that her sister was paid £12,000 a year to act as her secretary despite living more than 100 miles from either her Bromsgrove constituency or Westminster.

Last night David Kirwan said: “Mr Cameron acted swiftly to axe Ms Kirkbride’s husband for abusing the expenses system, but allows his wife to cling on.

“If he is genuine about wanting to clean up British politics then he should tell Ms Kirkbride that she has no future as a Tory MP.

“The British public have had enough of MPs such as Ms Kirkbride and her husband milking the system at the taxpayer’s expense and they will show their disgust at the ballot box as soon as Gordon Brown has the guts to call an election.”
