An Unnecessary Inquiry And A Dismal Defence Secretary
Prospective Independent MP for Wirral West David Kirwan has hit out at the Government’s decision to launch an inquiry into the Iraq War.
David says the decision is wrong on a number of accounts:
- it is being held in secret
- it is being conducted by career civil servants rather than military experts
- its findings will not be revealed until AFTER Labour has been kicked out of office
David said: “For all of these reasons it is not only pointless but an enormous waste of taxpayers’ money. I dread to think how many millions of pounds will be spent to produce a report that has been discredited before a day’s research has been conducted.”
David added: “As if all of this were not bad enough, the decision to hold this inquiry was announced by our new Secretary of State for Defence, none other than Bob Ainsworth, probably the most dismal person to hold such high office in living memory.”
“We should not be surprised – Gordon Brown has long since given up handing jobs to candidates of real talent. He is now more concerned about keeping his few remaining allies on the Labour benches happy. Is this really the way to run a Government?”
