Voters Left Frustrated As Brown Clings To Power
PROSPECTIVE Independent MP David Kirwan today (June 1) accused Gordon Brown of putting his own obsession with power ahead of the good of the country.
As Chancellor Alistair Darling agreed to repay £700 of expenses following new allegations in the Daily Telegraph, the Prime Minister continued to rule out calls for an immediate General Election.
David Kirwan said today: “Having waited so long to get his hands on the levers of power, the Prime Minister will have to be dragged kicking and screaming to the polls.
“Hardly anyone in the country believes that Gordon Brown and his disgraced Government are fit to rule, particularly in the wake of the Expenses’ Scandal.
“But the Prime Minister shows no sign of giving the British public what they most desire – an immediate General Election.
“With his own Chancellor drawn into the scandal and being forced to repay hundreds of pounds in expenses, how much lower is Mr Brown willing to drag Parliament before he calls an election
“It is a terrifying thought that we have a Chancellor who cannot manage his own finances, so what hope is there that he can help take us out of a recession.”
