Wirral West MP Hesford Expenses Revealed
LABOUR MP for Wirral West Stephen Hesford has found himself caught up in the MPs’ Expenses Scandal.
Mr Hesford, who is also a junior ministerial aide, was revealed to have claimed for a new bathroom for his second home in London.
He presented a bill for £5,599 and promptly challenged the Fees Office when told that the most he could claim from taxpayers’ was £3,500.
In March, Mr Hesford was named Merseyside’s most expensive MP after claiming £166,866 in expenses - £22,000 more than the House of Commons average.
Prospective Independent MP for Wirral West David Kirwan today (June 3) said: “While other higher profile MPs have dominated the headlines, it is important that voters in Wirral West are aware of what their own MP has been up to.
“Mr Hesford has not exactly set the world on fire during his time as MP for this constituency, but this hasn’t stopped him grabbing as much cash as he can from the taxpayer.
“Perhaps Mr Hesford should ask voters in Wirral West if they think he has been good value for money!”
