Call For Wirral Cabinet To Resign Immediately
A leading Merseyside lawyer has called for the immediate resignation of the Wirral Cabinet following the publication of the Wirral Public Libraries Inquiry.
David Kirwan, Senior Partner with Kirwans Solicitors and Prospective Independent MP for Wirral West, insists it is the only course of action after the damning report into the scandal by Sue Charteris.
Ms Charteris accuses Wirral Council of a complete lack of understanding of the needs of the very community it represents. She continues to accuse them of having no plan, no logic, no understanding and of being unconcerned with the needs of the most vulnerable members of their own community, including children, older people, the disabled, unemployed and those living in the most deprived areas.
David Kirwan said: “This report is coruscating in its condemnation of Wirral Council. It is the worst case of political incompetence in the political history of the Wirral.
“The council put cost-saving over the needs of the most vulnerable members of their own community.
“The only honourable course of action is for the immediate resignation of the entire Wirral cabinet, from the leader Steve Foulkes down.
“The publication of this truly damning report proves what the majority of right-thinking people on the Wirral believed throughout this whole debacle - that the council had no idea what the hell they were doing.
“In a half-baked muddled plan they turned a blind-eye to the needs of the most vulnerable in their community, the young, the old, the disabled and those living in the most deprived areas.
“Now that they have been found out, they should all fall on their swords. The people of the Wirral deserve better than this.”
